First stop is historic Basseterre, which has the unique distinction of being the first French Capital in the Western Hemisphere. One of the main points of interest, and arguably the most photographed structure in Basseterre, is the Berkeley Memorial Clock; an ornate green and bronze four faced clock tower. This structure is the focal point of The Circus, a quaint roundabout modeled after Piccadilly Circus in London. As you tour the island’s capital you will see numerous examples of both French and British architectural influence competing for your attention.
The tour continues on to the Palm's Court Garden, where you can shop for a wide variety of souvenirs crafted from sea-shells, wood, cattle-skins and other local materials.
The tour will then move westward to Bloody Point in the village of Challengers, a sacred place to the people of Carib origin. The tour continues on to Caribelle Batik at Romney Manor in the town of Old Road. The sheer beauty of this popular wedding spot will take your breath away. While there you will have the opportunity to purchase gifts from the wide array of unique batik items for sale.
The last stop on the tour is Timothy Hill in the resort area of Frigate Bay. There you will be graced with sweeping views of the eastern coast, where the tumultuous Atlantic Ocean meets with the calm Caribbean Sea. This tour will not only give you an inkling of why this remarkable island was so precious to both the British and the French, but it will also help you understand why Kittitians are so proud of St. Kitts.
